Great Mexican Food

Posted by jlh51 on 1/28/2009

I have been eating at the Madre for 28 years. I worked there, took my kids there and still eat there! I had lunch there today and it was awesome. I had the open faced tenderloin steak sandwich with sauteed onions and mushrooms and a side of slaw. I can name on one hand the "not up to par meals" over all those years. Those of you that complained, obviously have no taste!!!!!!!!!

It's a bar, not a restaurant

Food is terrible, bar food at best. Our waitress was a pregnanat woman working her way around a smoke filled bar, very symbolic of the bar in general. They sling drinks here, nothing else. The regulars are exactly that, regulars. Typical cool guy bartender was there both times, he clearly joins the rest of the crew for powder pick-me-up breaks.

Horrible. Avoid it. Warn others to avoid it.

WARNING! STAY AWAY!! Not only is it overpriced, but they really don't want you there. I went tonight to watch a football game. I had to beg them to turn on the game. I had to beg them to turn it up so I could hear. The food was middlin', at best. The drinks were overpriced. Then as soon as we paid the check, they made it clear we were no longer welcome (I left a 20% tip, but that made no difference). In fact, as soon as we paid, we were informed they were turning off the game because a DJ was coming on. Lousy sports bar. Overpriced. Rude service.

These People Will Rip You Off!!

I have a trusted friend who has previously told me that while sitting at the bar watching football and baseball, on several visits his bill reflected items, which were not ordered or received. He also indicated that bill totals have been increased when he received his bank statement. The employees have always insisted he was mistaken. Last night I went to watch he Yankees and Sox game and I noticed that 3 beers were added to my bill, which my girlfriend and I never received. All I got as a bad attitude from the bartender, his complaining of his gambling debts also raises my suspicions further. I you must go, pay for everything individually or they will steal your money!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!
